The Community Center Project of UWMS was on the drawing board for more than 20 years and finally it was fulfilled on July 31, 2019 with the purchase of the former JCC property in Pleasantville, NY.

The Community Center at Pleasantville is a 23,504 SF building attractively situated on a 15+ acre campus with 151 parking spaces. The location is ideal for our community that primarily serves all upper Westchester in addition to adjacent tristate residents. The Community Center campus is attractively nestled off a picturesque country road just minutes away from the Village of Pleasantville and the Hamlets of Chappaqua, Thornwood, Armonk and 5-15 minutes from southern and northern Westchester towns.
The Community Center building was a former public elementary school constructed in 1968. It was renovated by JCC/UJA in 2006 and served as a community center and nursery school through 2016. The building requires infrastructure repairs, renovations, and roof replacement in addition to floor plan change to accommodate our community wide services and programs.
During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic we actively distributed food at our center and even delivered to household who could not come to pick them up. We have initiated a Food Pantry at the center for the community in addition to rental for Soccer League and other sports events. We intend to slowly start programs that are listed below.
-
Food Pantry
-
Health Clinic
-
Educational Programs
-
Childcare and Adult Day Care
-
Environmental Services and Programs
-
Cooking Classes
-
Emergency Shelter.
UWMS is seeking your generous support to enable the Community Center Project to offer these and other services.
